The night before Holi, people come together to perform rituals in front of a bonfire and celebrate the ‘Holika Dahan’ - which signifies the burning of the demon Holika and the victory of Good over Evil.
While on the day of Holi, people celebrate ‘Dhuleti Holi’ with by sprinkling coloured water and applying colours (gulaal) on friends & family members. The celebration is usually accompanied with music, food and a lot of sweets.
The festival of Holi not only signifies the end of winters & start of spring, but also stands for an opportunity to renew relationships, forgive past incidents and spread happiness & love!
